What is Metaphysics

What IS Metaphysics

I, as you know, have many writing pieces in which the like of the word Metaphysics was used. I was never really formally asked what they were. In this case I shall explain to you my readers and audience what ive come to know as Metaphysics. Oh and ive taken the time to research into the topic so that I won't mislead you on a path down endless questions in which the realm of metaphysics would lead you to do so. Writing this piece will be a challenge of the ages to dual against the two thousand years of philosophy in which the likes of the worlds most renowned philosophers have taken to brush their stokes against ages, while attempting to explain ages as they best could. I want you to understand that at the end of this after reading the piece that you shall remain in question to what you perceive as metaphysical, real, fake, godlike or even phenomenal as in out of this world. This is my explanation of the realm and science of metaphysics.

“I've always wanted to create a book in which the reader could read, in which it would lead the reader on a path of sage, in which the reader would go on to be able to protect themselves from the unwritten narrative of the evilness that lies not within our Bible, but a book to make sure that their standard of themselves is the best that they can provide in any environment.” To navigate certain situations with sang froid, and over come just about anything and come to the day when opulence in knowledge elevated the mind to be free and controlled into a happiness in the likes of history has never seen. I would like to introduce you to what metaphysics is, to provide you with an analogy of what is fitting of a comparison. What I would like you to do as the reader is to pretend that reality is an unexplored area of the world just recently found. Mankind has yet to touch this area with his hand. But not so fast. A great competition has begun and experts and leaders alike take on to show of an enterprise of an magnificent journey that lay ahead of them. Scientists go off to explore regions of reality, Biologists go and analyze and study living systems and organisms. Psychologists do a study on behavior and cognition Physicist study matter and energy. But when the observers look over to the many Metaphysicians, they notice the many different talks and debates and reasoning going on to even explain the most basic questions about the unexplored region. Such as, what is the nature of the continent itself or what counts as a thing, even how are things connected? In sense, metaphysics is the cartography of reality.

Metaphysics is the study of the deepest questions about reality. It investigates what exists, how things exist, how they relate to one another, and what principles govern the structure of the world. While science often studies how things work, metaphysics asks what those things fundamentally are. A lot of people will just assume that metaphysics is the dealing of crystals, psychic powers, ghosts or mystical experiences. Not really. Metaphysics is a philosophical discipline.

People may think that metaphysical only pertain to individuals of a lecture hall or scholars, where as don't even realize that we may at one point in our lives encounter a metaphysical question, A person ask does god exist, or does death hurt and what happens after? These are some of the most basic questions that a human being can ask themselves and others. It is your nature to ask questions like these, but it comes with the punch of metaphysics. As metaphysics will not provide an answer to each and every question asked. A void may form here living you empty and nor could scientist help you unless you would like to go on to have them enplaning things beyond what your question may guide you to. Metaphysics is a disciplined way of thinking about some of the deepest problems concerning existence, reality, and human condition.

I want to also breakdown what it is literally, as in how a academic professor would go about explaining it in a lecture hall somewhere. They would tell you what I just written in the sections above while also peering into duality of two types of “influential division”, with in the study. Such as on one side that of Universals and then that of Particulars. One would have to really understand which each of these are at its core to even progress down the linage of considering themselves a Metaphysicist. In summary, Particulars are more unique, and individual entities that exist as distinct objects or beings. Whereas Universals are the properties characteristics or concepts that is most likely to be shared with particulars. An example of this can be described as this. Imagine a Neon Yellow McClaren Truck. That itself is a Particular of that object would be the specific Truck in which we are talking about, vin number included. Universals would be the maker of McClaren, being neon Yellow, or having four doors and wheels. That would be Particulars and Universals.

Branching into another type of metaphysics, it should also be known that the Modal Metaphysics should be known as a branch of this study. Modal Metaphysics began to marginalize reality, such as what reality could have been, must be, or could never be. In simpler terms, it studies possibility, necessity, and impossibility. Instead of taking what you perceive as reality or what presently exists as reality. A critical look at what alternative way reality might have existed and whether certain truths remain true under every possible circumstance. For example, imagine that you are working as a factory associate, it is at that moment that you are with due diligence, hard work, and dedication and education that you could be something of a dentist, an engineer or a teacher. These are examples of possibilities because they could reasonably occur in the right conditions. Contrary to that would the famed question of two plus two equals four ( 2+2=4 ). This is considered necessary because there is no possible circumstance in which it becomes false. Same as a three-sided square, it cannot exist because these ideas are illogical and impossible rather than merely unlikely.

The purpose of modal metaphysics is to understand why certain things are merely possible, why others are most necessary, and why some things cannot exist at all. To intertwine the philosophy of metaphysics into helping the philosophers better understand the limits of reality itself and what boundaries could exist, what must exist and what can never.

Going past and beyond modal metaphysics, the study also gets into several other important areas of inquiry. A study of space, time and change is one of these areas it goes. Every object occupies space, every event occures in time and everything around us is constantly subject to change or is changing. Once again metaphysics ask questions. Deep ones like What is Space? Is it a real thing of the universe or does it only exist as a way for man to describe relationships between objects? What is time? Does it flow from the past into the future or is it just a feature of human consciousness as we can’t experience the universe as something that is purely different than us as humans and our consciousness. This section of study is important because it the go about the very structure of reality itself and what we declare it to be.

One would also bring along the subject of causality in the study, of causes and effects. You or someone other would normally go about in everyday life and naturally assume that events happen because something causes them to happen. Knock knock, earth to human, you there Einstein? A match ignites because it is struck, a person succeeds because of years of dedication and hard work. Metaphysicians ask in this subject what causes are a genuine feature of reality or something else like us puzzle piecing things through observation. Its also serves as the investigation department for the realm as the Metaphysicians because they ask whether every event must have a cause whether chains of causes can continue forever, and whether there must be an ultimately first cause of which everything should follow. Questions such as these have been brough forth not just because of the philosophy but because of also things such as theology, science, and our understanding of the universe itself.

The last one I shall present to you should be one that I love to cover as you would know about my three hypotheses involving the relationship between the mind and free will. As these subjects have been at talks and debates for centuries. The philosophy of the mind ask what consciousness is? How thoughts emotions and memories and even perception relate to the physical brain. Is the mind nothing more that the activity of neurons firing off or not? Does consciousness possess qualities that cannot be fully explained by physical matter alone? Closely connected to this is the problem of free will. If every event in the universe is caused by previous event are our choices truly our own or have they already been predetermined by prior causes or did God say do this or not? If genuine freedom existed, how will it go with and within a universe governed by natural laws? Is the world too primed for us, hmm maybe I will write about that as well.

Well reader Ive done my best to educate you on these matters of metaphysics Inturn I hope you will understand after reading this that you gained in-sight into what metaphysics are. Such as studies as this give you thought, provoking reads and inspires you to become a thinking and philosopher of your own grounding. Metaphysics is not just one question wrapped up into a mash of academic scholarly articles and philosophers that spit out a bunch of random questions to the universe and demand a glancing stair out into space. They unite as one discipline. It asks about what exists, what things are, what causes events, and whether reality itself could have been different although these subjects are whole separate on paper they each contribute to upholding the principles of metaphysics as it attempts to understand reality as a whole. It has been one of the oldest and most enduring branches of philosophy as we know. Not something that is the study of the strange and odd, but of a focus on the matters of understanding existence itself. All questions of influence science, mathematics, ethics, politics, psychology, and just about every other field of human knowledge we have to date and maybe even in the future are in dealing with the matters of metaphysics. Ask yourself how does one learns about reality itself? That is just the start.
